Day One – Saturday 28th April

We flew from Bristol to Inverness via Easyjet  I used a soft padded  bike bag, and the bike arrived with no probs. I always go mad protecting the bike with foam pip lagging and bubble wrap !

There is no bag storage facilities at Inverness Airport, so we had arranged to leave our bags at a guest house in Inverness (Iona Guest House, IV3 5PV). My foldable bike bag meant that it could be easily stored at the Guest House for the week.

Once our bikes were assembled,  and we had eaten lunch we ended up leaving Inverness at around 1pm.   It was slightly daunting that we now had to complete around 110km ,having been woken at 3am to catch the flight !

The ride across to Lock Kishorn was thankfully not too strenuous.  We were helped massively by a strong tailwind (something that would stay with us for the first five days !), and limited climbing.

After about 65km, we stopped at  Ledgowan Lodge for a fantastic coffee, scones and carrot cake served with bone china cups and china cake stand.    We were made extremely welcome , even in our sweaty cycling gear.

From here the road soon turned narrow as we headed south west to Lochcarron, with the road into Lochcarron bordering the Loch on our left being especially memorable.

One final sting in the tail was the 150m climb out of Lochcarron, and then all down hill to our AirBNB accommodation on the edge of Loch Kishorn.

Here is photo of the last few 100 metres of road to Old School House, Loch Kishorn.

We ate at the local fish restaurant Kishorn Seafood Bar,  the service and food were fantastic.  Of particular note was the fact that the owners were very accomodating with respect to our uncertain arrival time !

The view over to Isle of Skye was brilliant
